- Lizaad Williams played rugby during his childhood and wanted to become a rugby player.
- He was often bullied as he lived in a single-mother household.
- He also played cricket with his friends in his neighbourhood. He played as a wicketkeeper during his initial cricketing days.
- In 2007, his high school coach Rossouw Mercuur convinced him to quit rugby and focus on becoming a cricketer.
- Williams played for South Africa in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup.
- He was only 16 years old when he welcomed his first daughter Kay-Zimé Pieters in 2010. His mother took care of his daughter before passing away.
- While studying in college, he joined Sports Skills for Life Skills (SS4LS), an organisation where he was taught about balancing his life and cricket.
- In the 2022 SA20 auction, he was acquired by Johannesburg Super Kings for R 325,000.
- He later made his debut for the South African national cricket team at the age of 27, which he called a tribute to his mother.
