- He started playing hockey after his best friend introduced him to the game when he was 11 years old.
- Abhishek once suffered a serious injury during his childhood when he jumped from a Jamun (Indian blackberry) tree, and his left-hand’s veins got cut by the barbed wire on the wall nearby.
- He was immediately rushed to the ICU, where he stayed for two weeks and received 15 stitches.
- Abhishek talked about the seriousness of the incident, in an interview, and said that he would have died had he been 5 minutes late to reach the hospital.
- After the incident, his parents didn’t want him to continue playing hockey fearing another serious injury, but on his coach, Shamsher Singh’s request, they allowed him to continue playing hockey.
