Some Lesser Known Facts About Arjun Babuta
- Arjun’s journey as a sports shooter started at the age of 12 on his father’s persuasion. His father named him after the character of Arjun in Mahābhārata and wanted him to excel in his sports career.
- Arjun shifted to Chandigarh with his family in 2011 for better opportunities in shooting sports.
- Arjun took training in the initial phase of his career from Lt Col JS Dhillon, former coach of Abhinav Bindra.
- Arjun won his first medal in shooting sports in the Chandigarh State Shooting Championship in 2013.
- Arjun’s father retired voluntarily from Indian Railways as station master in 2017 to focus completely on his son’s shooting career.
- Arjun considers Neeraj Chopra as one of his inspirations. Chopra was also his senior at the DAV College in Chandigarh.
- Arjun likes travelling and has been to several places including Egypt, Austria, and France.
- Arjun went through serious back problems in 2018 due to gluten disorder. The situation at that time became so bad for him that the doctors even told him to quit his career in shooting sports.
- Arjun won silver in the 10m Air Rifle at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championship in Changwon, earning him the quota for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
