• Sanjay Malhotra joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as part of the Rajasthan cadre in 1990.

• He served as the Sub-Divisional Officer in Ajmer from 21 July 1992 to 7 August 1993.

• Sanjay served as the Sub-Divisional Officer in Bikaner (North) from 10 August 1993 to 23 April 1994.
