In 2005, while he was serving as an SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) at Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, he handled the high-profile criminal case of Nirbhay Gujjar. Later, Nibhay Gujjar was encountered by the UP Police Task Force.

As the SSP of Etawah, he had a track record of eliminating 32 dacoits within a year and a half.
