• Avinash Yelandur was born and raised in a middle-class orthodox family.

• Before moving to film, he worked as an English lecturer at the National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru. He continued to teach at MES College, Bangalore, as one of the most popular lecturers of the college.

• During an interview, he revealed that while teaching, he attended a theatre workshop by British director Peter Coe in Mysuru, which sparked his interest in theatre.

• To learn theatre and acting, he left his teaching job at MES College, Bangalore, moved to London and joined a theatre named Mermaid Theatre there.
