Some Lesser Known Facts About Parag Jain
- Parag Jain was born in Gorakhpur, where his grandfather owned the Hukuamdas and Keshavdas Jain Saree shop.
- His father later got a job at IIT Kanpur, after which he moved to Kanpur with his family.
- He served in various senior roles in the Punjab Police, including SSP Chandigarh and DIG Ludhiana.
- In January 2014, he got a 4-year extension while posted as Joint Director in the Punjab Cabinet Secretariat.
- Jain later worked in overseas intelligence assignments, including a posting in Canada, where he worked on Khalistan-related terrorism.
- He was then appointed as station chief in Sri Lanka during a politically sensitive period from 2022 to 2024.
- During his Sri Lanka posting, he monitored the situation after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned in July 2022 due to public protests and economic crisis.
- He remained in Sri Lanka during the 21 September 2024, run-off election, where Anura Kumara Dissanayake won the presidency.
