Some Lesser Known Facts About Chinmayee Gopal

• Chinmayee Gopal was born and raised in New Delhi, India.

• She is 2014 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan Cadre.

• Chinmayee Gopal did her bachelor degree in Economics from the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. She later earned a master’s degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.

• After her master’s degree she started preparing for civil exam. In 2013, she cleared her UPSC exam in second attempt with an All-India Rank of 16.

• At the age of 30, she became an IAS officer of Rajasthan Cadre.

• Before starting her filed posting, she underwent training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie from 2014 to 2016.

• From 2015 to 2016, during her training period, Chinmayee served as Assitsant Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

• Between 2016 and 2017, as a part of her initial field training, Gopal worked as an Assistant Collector and Executive Magistrate in Kota and Ajmer.

• In 2017, Chinmayee posted as Sub Divisional Magistrate in Bhilwara and in 2018, in Ramganj Mandi (Kota).

• From 2019 to 2020 Gopal served as the Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad in Sriganganagar and from 2020 to 2021, in Bikaner. She was the first woman IAS officer to be appointed CEO of the Sri Ganganagar Zila Parishad.

• During this tenure, Gopal was known for taking a tough decision against illegal constructions, encroachments, and administrative negligence.

• In 2021, she was appointed as the first woman IAS Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in Ajmer.

• She then worked as Joint Secretary to the Government Industries Department of Rajasthan.

• In the late 2022s, Gopal served as the Managing Director of the Rural Non-Farm Sector Development Agency (RUDA) in Jaipur.

• In 2023, Chinmayee Gopal was appointed as the District Collector and District Magistrate of Tonk and later of Jhunjhunu.

• As the District Collector and District Magistrate, Gopal gained recognition for taking strong action against corruption. She personally went door-to-door in villages to directly speak the villagers, resolved their issues and suspended the employee, who were involved in the corruption.

• In 2024, while serving at the Jhunjhunu, she met with a road accident. Her car was badly damaged, luckily no injury was reported to her.

• In 2024, Chinmayee Gopal was appointed as the Commissioner of Agriculture and Panchayati Raj Department in Jaipur.

• In May 2026, Gopal was appointed as the District Magistrate (DM) of Barmer, Rajasthan under a transfer order on dated 1 April 2026.

• Gopal replaced previous DM IAS officer Tina Dabi. Dabi has taken charge as the District Collector and District Magistrate of Tonk district.
