• Anjana is the first civil servant from Vilavoorkal village panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram.

• In an interview, Anjana mentioned that her family wanted her to go into the medical field rather than civil service. However, Anjana has been interested in civil service since childhood.

• After completing her bachelor’s degree, she did not go for a postgraduate programme and joined a UPSC exam coaching centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

• Anjana interned for six months as a news reporter with a leading Malayalam daily newspaper.

• To investigate, Anjana Krishna arrived at the scene of action. There, she talked to local villagers and NCP worker Baba Jagtap. Jagtap directly dialled Maharashtra’s Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and handed the call over to Anjana. A video from that operation went viral on social media. In the video, Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar was talking to Anjana and saying,

Suno, mai Deputy Chief Minister bol raha hoon aur aapko aadesh deta hoon ki voh rukwao (Listen, I am the Deputy CM and I am ordering you to stop it). Tujhe mujhe dekhna hai na. • Initially, Anjana didn’t recognise him and asked him to call her on her number. Later, he connected with her directly through a video call, instructing her to stop the action and coordinate with the local Tehsildar.

• Anjana’s calm and professional response during this incident won widespread praise and being dubbed as Lady Singham.

• Despite the pressure from political leaders, she did not back down. She continued with her duty, and later a case was filed against the four individuals for unlawful assembly and obstructing public servants.

• After this incident, National Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) Amol Mitkari called for a UPSC-level investigation into Krishna’s documents, including educational qualifications, caste certificate, and other relevant documents. However, on 7 September 2025, he withdrew his demand and issued an apology for raising doubts about her credentials.
