  • Yashwant Sardeshpande was drawn to theatre from a young age.
  • After graduating from Ninasam Theatre Institute in Heggodu, Yashwant established a repertory called ‘Guru Samsthe’ in Hubballi along with other fellow graduates. His wife, Malati, was part of the group.
  • His big break came with the comedy play ‘All The Best,’ which was adapted from a Marathi play. The play became a massive hit, with over 500 shows across Karnataka, India, and even abroad.
  • He went on to direct and act in many audience favourite plays, including ‘Rashichakra’ (his noted solo performance), ‘Neenaanaadre Naaneenenaa,’ ‘Sahi Ri Sahi,’ ‘Sahebaru Baruttare,’ and ‘Hingadre Dot Comedy.’

  • Over time, he directed and acted in more than 60 plays across Karnataka.
  • He also brought all of Kannada poet D.R. Bendre’s plays to the stage through theatre groups like Rangavarthula and Bendre Rangavalli.
