Some Lesser Known Facts About Sriram Raghavan
- Raghavan had stammering problem and was quite shy in his childhood days. He has spoken about how this made him reserved early on.
- Before he started his career in film making, he tried journalism. Later because of his stammering problem and shy personality, he found it tough and later dropped from a journalism within a few months.
- Before entering mainstream cinema, he worked as a writer for television soaps, writing many episodes of CID and Aahat, and also directed one episode of the television series Star Bestsellers (2000) called First Kill.
- Some of his work in film making includes Ek Hasina Thi (2004), Johnny Gaddaar (2007), Agent Vinod (2012), Badlapur (2015).
- For his popular Bollywood film Badlapur (2015), he initially thought of casting Irrfan Khan in the central role but eventually went with Varun Dhawan. He had reservations about doing so, but the producer persuaded him.
- His popular film Andhadhun (2018), was turned down by many actors before Ayushmann Khurrana was finalized.
- In 2024, his film Merry Christmas was released, which is a bilingual (Hindi and Tamil) film based on the French novel Le Monte-charge (Bird in a Cage), starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, fulfilling his wish to make a film in his mother tongue.
- Despite success in film making, he prefers to stay out of the limelight. He doesn’t enjoy the party or the social side of the industry much and prefers small circle.
