- Michael Patrick Campbell was born in Northern Ireland, Belfast.
- Even as a child, he was interested in performance and the arts.
- He studied Physics at the University of Cambridge where he used a lot of time acting and performing comedy with the Cambridge footlights.
- He then became an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and later came back to Belfast in order to establish his career on stage and screen.
- During the initial years of his career, he made repeated stage work. He played in the Royal Shakespeare Company in Measure for Measure and The Taming of the Shrew.
- He also starred in Othello at the Abbey Theatre and starred in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged in Bruiser NI.
- He occasionally also took on television roles, such as in Game of Thrones, Krypton, Soft Border Patrol, The Keeper and Bravery Under Fire.
- In 2016, Game of Thrones cast him as a Wildling in a season 6 episode. It was one of his most popular screen performances.
- He also co-wrote the one-man show My Left Nut alongside Oisin Kearney, which is based upon his teen days.
