• Hope Hicks was born and raised in Greenwich Connecticut, USA.

• Her family had a strong connection to politics and public relations. Her father, Paul Hicks III worked in public relations and had earlier served as chief of staff to Republican Congressman Stewart McKinney, while her mother, Caye Cavender worked as a legislative aide to Democratic Congressman Ed Jones.

• Hope’s maternal grandfather, G. W. F. “Dutch” Cavender, worked as an administrator in the U.S. Department of Agriculture under two different administrations while her maternal grandmother, Marilee Cavender, worked at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

• Since childhood Hicks was interested in sports. When she was in Greenwich High School she became co-captain of school’s girls lacrosse team and helped team win a state championship.

• Before entering politics, Hicks has a short career as a model. In 2002, she appeared in Greenwich magazine. Later she and her older sister, Mary Grace Hicks appeared in a Ralph Lauren advertising campaign.

• When Hicks was 10 years old, she was the face of the Hourglass Adventures novels.

• In 2005, Hicks was the cover model for The It Girl, the first book in the series by Cecily von Ziegesar.

• Hicks also appeared as an actress in the television soap opera, Guiding Light (2009).

• In 2010, Hicks graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in English. She was also the part of lacrosse there.

• In January 2015, although she had never worked in politics or volunteered for a political campaign, Hicks was chosen to become Trump’s press secretary for his potential presidential campaign.

• In an interview, she shared that Trump summoned her to his office and said,

I’m thinking about running for president, and you’re going to be my press secretary.”

• After Donald Trump won his first primary election, Hicks was asked to choose between staying with the Trump Organization or working full-time on his campaign. She initially decided to leave the campaign, but Trump convince her to stay as his press secretary.

• During the campaign, Hicks became an important gatekeeper between Trump and the media. Reportedly, she handled more than 250 media requests a day and decided which reporters could speak with him.

• She also sometimes took dictation from Trump for his Twitter posts and passed the wording to another person who posted the messages from his account.

• Despite keeping a very low public profile, Hope became one of the most influential people around Trump during the campaign. She was also included in Forbes’s 30 Under 30 list in 2017 for her work on the campaign and for serving as a one-woman press team” for Trump’s presidential campaign.

• In January 2017, Hicks become the first White House director of strategic communications, a newly created position in the Trump administration.

• During that time, she was one of the youngest senior officials in the new White House and remained one of Donald Trump’s closest advisers.

• In August 2017, Hicks became acting White House communications director after Anthony Scaramucci left the position. She was made the permanent communications director in September 2017.

• On February 2018, Hicks spent about nine hours answering questions from the Intelligence Committee as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

• During that testimony, she acknowledged that she had sometimes told what she called “white lies” while working for Trump, although she said she had not lied about matters related to the Russia investigation.

• One day after her congressional testimony, Hicks announced her resignation as White House communications director on 28 February 2018.

• From March 2018 to March 2020, Hicks served as chief communications officer and executive vice president at Fox Corporation. For her new job, she moved from Washington to Los Angeles.

• In 2018, Hicks was dating White House staff secretary Rob Porter. Their relationship received public attention after Porter resigned following allegations of abuse by his former wives.

• In 2019, Hicks began dating Goldman Sachs executive, Jim Donovan. They got engaged in Mar 2024, in Italy.

• In February 2020, she returned to the White House after two years. She became a counsellor to President Donald Trump and worked closely with Jared Kushner, rather than returning to the communications director’s job.

• In January 2021, Hicks left White House. Her departure was planned and not directly connected to the January 6 Capitol Complex.

• In October 2022, she gave a recorded interview to the House committee investigating the January 6 attack. Her testimony was later shown during the committee’s final public hearing.

• In April 2024, Hicks became an important prosecution witness in Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial involving the payment made to silence Stormy Daniels.
