  • San was born and raised in Namhae, South Korea.
  • His father, Choi Jong-cheo is a trained taekwondo player and also run a taekwondo studio in Namhae, South Korea that give San an early exposure to marital arts and physical training.
  • San attended Korean Arts High School and then moved to Global Cyber University, where he studied Entertainment and Media.
  • San trained under KQ Entertainment as a trainee. He was introduced KQ Entertainment by trot singer Na Sang Do, who is also his father’s taekwondo student.
  • In 2017, he was introduced as a member of the pre-debut KQ Fellaz along with seven other trainees. All eight later became members of ATEEZ.
  • On 24 October 2018, San made his debut with ATEEZ as the group’s lead vocalist and later became one of the ATEEZ’s main dancer.
