Some Lesser Known Facts About Major Navya Shekhawat

• Major Navya Shekhawat hails from village Kerpura of district Sikar in Rajasthan.

• She was raised into a family of Indian army personnel, where her father, Captain Karan Singh Shekhawat is serving as Group Captain in Indian Army (as of September 2026) while her grand-father, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat is a retired Commander.

• In 2020, Navya appeared for the UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination-1, 2020conducted for entry into the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

• In 2021, she was selected for the 27th Short Service Commission Women (Non-Technical) Course at OTA, Chennai. Her name appeared at 7th position in the women’s merit list.

• Navya completed her officer training at OTA Chennai and was commissioned into the Indian Army.

• In 2021, after commissioning, Navya joined the Army service Corps (ASC), which handled important Army logistics and support responsibilities.

• From 2021 to 2026, Navya Shekhawat progressed to the rank of Major.

• In July 2026, she was appointed Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

• Her appointment made her the first woman officer from the Indian Army to serve as the President’s ADC and the second woman overall in the position, after Indian Navy Officer Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki was the first woman President’s ADC in 2025.

• As President’s ADC, she accompanies President Murmu during official ceremonies, engagements and other important function, making her one of the military officers closely associated with the President’s official duties.
