• He was a shy and quiet kid in school. He often became a target for bullies.
• His mother’s friend, who was his English teacher at school, once suggested she enrol Abhinav in a summer workshop run by casting director Dilip Shankar to help him open up. At 13, Abhinav joined the workshop, and Dilip told him that he was born to be an actor.

• At the age of 16, Abhinav joined his friends and cousins, who had formed a theatre group, to participate in a skit competition held at another school. Later, he began actively participating in plays.

• Abhinav not only took part in theatre but also engaged in sports, particularly water polo, during his school days.

• Abhinav has been a big fan of actor Shah Rukh Khan since he was a kid. He admired him so much that he had an asthma attack at the age of 14 while watching a scene in the film ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003) where Shah Rukh Khan’s character was dying. While talking about his admiration for the actor, Abhinav said,
  

  Also, when I was a kid and I was like 2 or 3 years old, I remember my Nani got me a Karaoke machine and to date they tell me that I used to only sing only Shah Rukh Khan’s songs. In the movie, there is this song ‘Dil’, I used to always sing that. My Nani told me that I used to dance to a lot of his songs.”

• While studying at Hansraj College in New Delhi, he continued to participate in theatrical productions. Later, he moved to New York to join the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, where he did many plays including musical theatre.

• After living for a few months in New York, Abhinav moved to Mumbai. He was 18 when he got his first job, where he worked for three years.

• In 2019, he appeared as ‘Sapan Gill’ in Disney+ Hotstar’s series ‘The Office,’ an adaptation of the original BBC series of the same name.
