ControversyHis song, Parveen, made him face a lot of criticism by a columnist, Javed Chaudhary, for using a common Pakistani female name in an odd way. A girl then wrote to Chaudhary that she had stopped attending college because of the harassment caused to her by fellow male students by teasing her with Abrar's song. The matter was then taken to the Pakistan Supreme Court, which ordered Abrar to change the lyrics. In the response, he said he would follow what the court says.

  • Although Abrar was born in Faisalabad, he has lived at a number of places throughout his childhood, because of his father being a civil servant.
  • Upon completing his master’s, Abrar went on to become a teacher of Geography at Pakistan’s one of the most reputed institutes, Aitchison College, before realising that singing was his true love.
  • Abrar came up with his first music album ‘Billo De Ghar,’ in 1995, which has sold over 16 Million copies.
  • He is the founder of a charitable organization, ‘Services Aimed at Health and Awakening in Remote Areas’ (SAHARA), or Sahara for Life Trust, which takes care of health and education of people living in the remote areas of Pakistan.
