Controversy | Accused of using derogatory remarks for an advocate in the court: Ahsanuddin Amanullah attracted controversy in 2018 after he allegedly made a derogatory statement against Alka Verma, an advocate of the Patna High Court. She later filed a suo motu cognizance petition against him in the High Court. Her petition read, "That the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah by aforesaid act of utterances of uncharitable words towards the “officer of the court” in the open court, before the client and juniors and other learned advocates present in the court has not only violated the oath but also scandalized the Hon’ble Court. Therefore, it has been prayed by the applicant that the Patna High Court takes suo motu cognizance of the issue." In her petition, she claimed that the judge not only humiliated her in the open court but also said that she became a member of the advocates' panel of the Patna High Court through lobbying and references and that she is only concerned with getting paid from her clients for taking up their case. [3]SoOLEGAL According to her, Ahsanuddin Amanullah said, "Pairavi kar kar ke panel main aate hai (One gets into panels through references) and Sirf bill banane me interest hai (One is only interested in getting one’s fee)." |
