- Anirudh started playing football at the age of 10.
- In 2012, he joined the AIFF Academy in Kalyani and was selected for the India U15 squad.
- In 2014, Anirudh featured in the AFC U-16 Championship in Malaysia.
- In 2015, Thapa was the youngest member selected to be part of the India U19 squad for the SAFF U19 Championship.
- Anirudh follows a strict fitness regimen and likes to work out.
- In the season 2015-16, Anirudh won the U19 I-league as a captain of the AIFF Elite Academy; he played 14 games and scored three goals.
