  • Sheoran competed at the 2008 World Wrestling Championships; however, she was defeated by a Polish wrestler named Agata Pietrzyk in the first round; Agata Pietrzyk won bronze in the championship.
  • Anita gained weight after participating in the 2008 World Wrestling Championships and competed at the 2009 National Wrestling Championship, held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, under the 63 kg category. She defeated Geetika Jakhar and won gold.

  • Anita Sheoran contested the Wrestling Federation of India’s (WFI) presidential elections in 2023, becoming the only female candidate to contest the elections. The elections were held to take over the seat left vacant by Brij Bhushan Singh, who was ousted from his position as WFI president following numerous allegations of sexually exploiting women wrestlers over a decade-long period including Anita Sheoran; these allegations came to a head on 18 January 2023. Anita, however, lost the election to Sanjay Singh, who is considered to be Brij Bhushan’s aide.
