- Aparna Purohit grew up in Delhi.
- As a child, she often visited the Pragati Maidan book fair in Delhi with her father and brother. She and her brother used to have Rs. 100 to spend on books full of short stories. After reading, they would exchange books with friends until the next fair.
- Aparna was full of imagination and creativity when she was young. She once convinced her cousins to go on a mission to rescue the soul of a little boy from a house. She even made her teacher believe that her homemaker mother was actually a secret agent.
- In 2003, she moved from Delhi to Mumbai to become an independent director and producer. Within a week of arriving in Mumbai, she got a job as an assistant director on a television show. Aparna was the only woman assistant director of the project.
- Aparna worked as a line producer at a film distribution company named UTV Motion Pictures from January 2007 to July 2008.
- In 2008, Aparna co-founded ‘Chaar Yaar Productions’ with three friends. In the same year, she faced financial issues due to which she did different jobs such as teaching, doing voiceovers, and helping people with their film stories.
- In August 2008, she started working as a line producer at Reliance Big Entertainment and BIG Pictures, which were later merged into Reliance Entertainment. She worked there till June 2010.
- Aparna worked as a project manager at the National Film Development Corporation’s Film Bazaar from August 2010 to December 2010.
