  • Bismil started sufi singing at the tender age of 5.
  • He received singing training from various distinguished gurus from the Moradabad and Delhi Gharanas including Ustaad Mohd. Ahmed Qadri, Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, and Ustad Aftab Ahmed Khan.
  • Bismil started performing professionally when he was 18 years old and in 2013, he co-founded “Bismil Ki Mehfil” to promote Sufi music.
  • During the initial years of his singing, Bismil used to perform in small gigs and started performing as ‘Bismil’ after meeting Vibhor Hasija who was the owner of the Delhi-based event management company named ‘Yours Eventfully.’
  • Before becoming a professional singer, Bismil used to attend college for the whole day and then in the evening, he used to perform Bollywood songs in a cafe where he used to daily earn 300 rupees for performing for 3 hours.
  • After finishing his performance in one cafe, he used to go back home for some rest and then go to another restaurant in South Delhi to sing ghazals.
  • When he was in the final year of his graduation, he started building his music band but was confused as to what should be the name of his band and that’s when his mother suggested the name ‘Bismil.’ Bismil is a Persian word which has multiple meanings like wounded, sacrificed, and lover.
  • The name ‘Bismil’ was inspired by a line in the Hindi song titled ‘Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi’ and that is how Bismil named his band ‘Bismil Ki Mehfil.’

  • In 2015, Bismil created his YouTube channel and started uploading his songs, live performances, and vlogs on the same. His YouTube channel holds more than 42 thousand subscribers, as of 2025.
  • In 2023, Bismil was featured on the Times Square billboard in New York City which showcased the successful completion of the artist’s sufi music tour, which took place in a 10-city tour in 9 US cities and 1 Canadian city.

  • In 2024, he released his Hindi sufi song titled ‘Aoge Tum’ which also featured the singer Uditi Singh.

  • In the same year, Bismil released a cover of the Hindi sufi song titled ‘Kehna Ghalat Ghalat’ which was originally sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The cover holds more than 10 million views on YouTube.

  • Bismil adapted the way of infusing Urdu Shayari in songs in his live singing and talking about his style, he was quoted saying that

    I honed my skills as a vocalist and refined my genre further by infusing Sufi music with modern pop, which has been quite popular across India and garnered a good fanbase in the states and Canada.”
