Some Lesser Known Facts About Chris Dixon
- Chris Dixon began programming at 8, he started by programing on a TRS-80 Model 1. According to him, he learnt to code on his own. His parents are both English professors at the Wittenberg University. He attended various Computer Science camps.
- After completing his graduation from Columbia University, he took up a job as a developer at a hedge fund in the Wall Street.
- After working for the Hedge Fund for three years, he pursued his MBA from Havard University. Later, he began working for a venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners.
- In 2005, he co-founded a web advisor startup named SiteAdvisor, which was later acquired by security company McAfee in 2006.
- In 2009, he co-founded a recommendation engine named Hunch along with an American entrepreneur, Caterina Fake. In 2011, Hunch was acquired by eBay for $75 million.
- While creating Hunch, he made personal investments in various technical startups including the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter (2009), the social sharing site Pinterest (2011), and the online payments business Stripe (2012).
