- David Caprio is an American businessman, investor, lawyer, and politician who has served as a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from District 47 (1999 -2003) and District 34 (2003-2011). He is the son of former Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of Providence Frank Caprio, who is known for the TV show Caught in Providence. He is also a co-owner of Citylife Productions, the production house which produced Caught in Providence.
- His eldest son, Frank T. Caprio, is a member of the Democratic party who served as the 29th General Treasurer of Rhode Island from 2007 to 2011. His sister, Marissa Caprio Pesce, was married to John R. Pesce, who died in February 2018.
- In July 2014, he resigned from the position of State Democratic Party Chairman citing that he “does not have the time to help the many Democrats who are running for office this year.” His statement said,
The position of Democratic Party chair is demanding and time consuming, especially in an election year. There are numerous, talented Democrats seeking office. I cannot, at this time, dedicate the necessary time and energy to assist them in their respective campaigns. Accordingly, I no longer will serve as party chair.”
- Interestingly, he stepped down from his role as chairman while the state police were looking into a contract for operating services at three state beaches: Misquamicut, Scarborough, and Roger Wheeler.
