- Her father, Jorge Antonio Rodríguez, was a founding member of the Socialist League, a Marxist political party in Venezuela. In 1976, Rodríguez’s father was murdered while he was imprisoned and tortured by the Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (DISIP) due to his leadership role in the kidnapping of American executive William Niehous.
