Some Lesser Known Facts About Eva Olid

• Eva Olid was born and raised in Sabadell, Catalonia, Spain.

• Because her father was a big football fan, she also developed interest in football at a younger age.

• In an interview, she shared that when she was a child, she regularly watched football watches with her father. She added that they used to watch around four to five matches together every weekends.

• Along with watching football matches, she also had a book about the Spanish leagues and learned about the different teams and players.

• In 1995, when Eva was 10 years old even though when opportunities for girls to play organised football were limited, she started playing football.

• Her professional football career started with local teams in Sabadell, including Sabadell and La Planada.

• She later decided to focus on coaching and education because opportunities for women footballers were still limited. She studied English Language Teaching as well as Physical Education.

•  During her early coaching career, she worked with youth teams at Sabadell and faced teams, including Barcelona and Espanyol.

• Later, Eva worked with Sabadell’s first team and became responsible for the club’s women’s football team.

• In her early career, she was working with a team of players with disabilities, which she later described it as one of her most rewarding coaching experience.

• Before deciding to focus mainly on women’s football, Olid also worked in men’s youth football team.

• Eva’s first coaching experience outside Spain was with Houston Dyname in the United States.

• She later worked with Houston Dynamo’s women’s team and also coached club’s under-19 men’s team.

• After serving at Houston Dynamo in the United States, she returned to Spain and worked with the Catalan Football Association.

• In 2021, Scottish football club, Hearts Women appointed her as head coach of their women’s team.

• In August 2023, she signed a new two-year contract.

• During her five years at Hearts, Eva helped the team improve from a lower-ranked side into one of Scotland’s strongest women’s teams, and in the 2022-23 season the team finished fourth in the Scottish top division, their best-ever position at that time.

• In 2024, Eva’s guided the Hearts to their first Scottish Women’s Cup final.

• In April 2025, Hearts extended her contract after recognising her progress with the women’s team.

• In April 2026, Hearts announced that Olid would leave the club at the end of the season after five years in charge.

• In May 2026, Eva led Hearts to their first-ever Scottish Women’s Premier League title. In the season, Hearts finished two points clear at the top of the league, giving Olid the biggest trophy of her coaching career at that time.

• Her success with Hearts earned her the SWPL Manager of the Season award and the PFA Scotland SWPL Manager of the Year Award in 2026.

• On 5 August 2026, Eva Olid was appointed as the new head coach of the Manchester’s women team on a contract until June 2025, with an option for another year.
