• Gilles Deacon is a British fashion designer, and creative director and has founded his own fashion label, Giles Deacon group.

• He collaborated with notable designers such as Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Bottega Veneta, and Tom Ford. Later on, he obtained a loan to establish his own label, GILES, which he launched in 2003.

• Giles started drawing when he was only three years old. He would usually go out in the hills and watched nature for inspiration. He also calls his drawings “funny little garden drawings” ^[4]Style.com – YouTube

• In April 2010, he was appointed as the creative director of the French fashion brand Ungaro. Deacon unveiled his first collection for Ungaro in October 2010, which was widely anticipated. However, he ended his collaboration with the brand in 2011.

• He also participated in the Channel 4 entertainment series, New Look Style the Nation.

• One of Deacon’s most notable collaborations has been with the popular fashion chain, New Look. His collection, Gold by Giles, was launched in March 2007 and featured actress Drew Barrymore in its initial ad campaigns. Subsequently, British model Agyness Deyn became the face of the collection’s key pieces for Deacon’s fourth collection.

• In late 2015, Deacon designed a collection of women’s clothing for Debenhams, which was modeled by Daisy Lowe. The collection was named Giles Deacon’s Edition.

• In 2005, Givenchy offered Deacon a job, but he was asked to abandon his label. Refusing to do so, he opted to continue designing collections for London Fashion Week independently.

• He has also designed clothes for the American actor Billy Porter for the Oscars 2020.

• Deacon’s love for chocolate led him to collaborate with Cadbury’s Caramel Nibbles in 2013. He designed a strapless white tulip Nibbles dress featuring a chocolate polka-dot print, ruffle details, and a bold pussy-bow necktie for the Caramel Bunny. He also created a limited edition scarf incorporating the bunny’s eyes, colored chains, and pink bows.

• In a two-season collaboration with British fashion brand Mulberry, Deacon launched a line of accessories called “Mulberry for Giles.”

• While attending Central St Martins, Deacon shared a classroom with renowned designers such as John Galliano, Georgina Godley, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, and Luella Bartley.

• He has designed clothes for famous celebrities like Pink, Lily Allen, Kendall Jenner, and Cara Delevigne.

• Deacon’s contract with Bottega Veneta was terminated after only one year following Gucci’s acquisition of the company, allowing them to hire German designer Tomas Maier.

• Deacon had to leave Gucci after one season in 2002 due to an illness caused by an infected salivary gland.

• Thandiwe Newton, Princess Beatrice, and Scarlett Johansson are among Deacon’s clients. Several actresses, including Cate Blanchett and Kerry Washington, have worn Deacon’s dresses at various red carpet events.

• In May 2017, Deacon was the designer behind the wedding dress of Pippa Middleton, the sister of Catherine, Princess of Wales.

• During the 2008 London Fashion Week, Deacon showcased a collection with a futuristic theme, inspired by the 1980s arcade game Pac-Man. Many of the dresses featured the Pac-Man character and the models wore oversized Pac-Man helmets.

• Deacon finds drawing to be a therapeutic and calming activity. He draws for at least half an hour every day and carries four different drawing books with him. He also enjoys working with a potter’s wheel.

• Cooking is not one of Deacon’s passions. He says that it is because he does not find the food products in his fridge “inspiring.”

• Deacon’s hobbies include swimming, hiking, macramé, and gardening.
