  • In an interview, she shared that in 1988, at the age of 16, she visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry, where she met writer and philosopher K.D Sethna (Amal Kiran). After meeting him, she developed a strong interest in spirituality and education.
  • She completed her graduation degree in Physics from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore in 1994 and then in 1996 she earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing and Finance from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).
  • Before transitioning into social entrepreneurship, Gitanjali had a career in the corporate sector. In 1996 after completing her MBA she joined SRF Limited, Chennai as an Assistant Manager.
  • In 1998, she joined Deloitte, Chennai as a Consultant, where she worked on several consulting assignments for various corporates like formulation of marketing strategies, entry strategies, business modeling, preparation of business plans, process improvements and Mergers and Acquisitions.

  • In 2023, Angmo represented HIAL’s education model at Cambridge University.
  • In 2026, Gitanjali J Angmo came into news after she publicly supported her husband, Sonam Wangchuk‘s ongoing hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where he supported the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities and paper leak cases.
