Controversy | Threatened to kill Narendra Modi in a live speech In 2014, Imran came into the limelight when he threatened to chop Narendra Modi into pieces during a rally. He was caught on tape saying "I am a man of the street, ready to give my life for my people. I am neither afraid of death or of killing....He thinks this is Gujarat. There are only 4% Muslims in Gujarat. There are 42% Muslims here. If he tries to convert this into Gujarat, then we will chop him." A case was registered against him, and he was arrested under sections 153A, 295A, 504, and 506. He apologized for his remarks later and said that he should have been more careful with the words he used in his speech. [1]The Economic Times |
