• His mentor Dr Uma Maheshwari (former principal of Government College of Music, Thiruvaiyaru) advised him to join the music course at Madras University and also paid his course fees.

• After completing his courses in music, he worked as a restaurant musician at The Carlton a hotel, in Kodaikanal.

• After leaving his job at the hotel, he worked as a music teacher at the St. Peter’s International School, Kodaikanal for six years.

• He left his job as a music teacher after 6 years and shifted to Madras (now Chennai) to fulfil his dream to become a music composer.

• He has composed around 400 Christian audio albums.

• In 1998, James became the owner and creative head of the television and film production company known as Big Deal. The company was later renamed as Miracle Entertainment.
