• Jayakrishnan came from a farming family.

• He studied at the school where his father was an arts teacher.

• When Jayakrishnan was young, he became interested in acting through the theatre arts club in his hometown.

• At 20, after completing his graduation, he moved from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram to work in films with five hundred rupees.
