• During his period in the University of Pennsylvania, John Ternus represented the men’s college team in many swimming championships. He competed in the 50-meter freestyle and the 200-meter individual races.

• In his senior year at the University, he made a device for quadriplegics who could control a mechanical feeding arm by using their head motions.

• In July 1997, John Ternus began working as a Mechanical Engineer at Virtual Research Systems. He served in the position till June 2001.

• During this period, he developed virtual reality headsets and human-machine interface technologies.

• In 2001, John Ternus joined Apple and started working as a member in Apple’s product design team.
