- In childhood, Kapil Parmar suffered a severe electric shock after he accidentally touched a water pump.
- A villager found him unconscious and took him to a hospital in Bhopal, where he stayed in a coma for six months.
- The immediate effect of the shock was that his fingers got stuck together. Over time, his vision worsened. Kapil Parmar has very limited eyesight, even with high-powered glasses.
- He loved to play judo during his school days.
- After his recovery, doctors advised him to gain weight so that he could participate in judo professionally.
- During this time, Kapil Parmar learned about blind judo and was encouraged to pursue the game by his mentors, Bhagwan Das and Manoj.
