- Kimberly Schlapman was raised by her parents in a middle-class household.
- Soon after her birth, Kimberly moved to Cornelia and was brought up there.
- She began playing piano at the age of 8, and by the age of 11, she took over the job at church when the regular pianist left.
- Kimberly Schlapman always wanted to become a singer. She started singing in church with her father and sister and started entering talent contests when she was just 12 years old.
- As much as she had wanted to become a singer since childhood, Kimberly was also equally inclined to cook.
- She dropped out of kindergarten because she was afraid of the fire drill.
- It was in the university that Kimberly met the American singer Karen Fairchild and they both started singing together.
