• Manohar Lal Dhakad hails from Bani village in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, India.

• On the night of 13 May 2025, a CCTV camera captured Manohar stopping his car on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway and engaging in a sexually explicit act with a woman near his vehicle. A second video surfaced showing the pair dancing on the expressway.

• Following the circulation of these videos, a case was registered against Dhakad at the Bhanpura police station in Madhya Pradesh on 23 May 2025 under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 296 (obscene acts and songs in public places), 285 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation), and 3(5) (collective crime).

• On the night of 23 May 2025, police raided Dhakad’s residence in Bani village and seized a white Maruti Suzuki Baleno (MP 14 CC 4782) that appeared in the CCTV footage, but Dhakad himself was not at the location.

• In response to the controversy, the Yuva Mahasabha expelled Manohar Lal Dhakad from his position as national general secretary.

• Amid public backlash and reports linking him to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), BJP district president Rajesh Dixit clarified that Dhakad was not a primary member of the party.

• BJP spokesperson and former Mandsaur MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodiya later addressed the matter, saying that what Dhakad did was very wrong and shameful. He also made it clear that Dhakad was never given any role in the BJP and is not connected to the party in any official way.

• On 27 May 2025, Manohar was granted bail. His lawyer, Sanjay Soni, claimed the video was AI-generated and should be checked through forensic tests.

• Manohar even claimed that the car seen in the video did not belong to him, stating he had sold it before the incident. However, according to police investigations and vehicle registration records, the car was still registered in his name at the time of the incident

• Later, reports emerged that Dhakad was being blackmailed by employees of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) control room, who had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from him over the videos. When he didn’t pay the bribe, they reportedly leaked the video. Three NHAI employees were suspended over the incident.

• Bhanpura Police Station In-charge RC Dangi later stated that the woman was identified as an old friend of Dhakad. A Congress leader claimed she was a government school teacher from Mandsaur district who had contacted Dhakad about her job transfer.
