ControversyAccused of Murder
On 7 June 1999, the Mexican entertainer Paco Stanley was shot four times in the head as he left the El Charco de las Ranas restaurant in Mexico City. At the time of the attack, Mario Bezares was at the restaurant, taking a bath in his bathroom. A day later, toxicological tests were performed on the body of Stanley and Mario Bezares and both of them tested positive for cocaine use. Later, Mario Bezares and Paola Durante were accused of Paco's murder. They were arrested on 2 September 1999. However, due to lack of evidence, they were declared innocent in January 2001.
