- Meb Keflezighi, originally, is from the country Eritrea (in the Horn of Africa). He and his family, in 1987, came to the United States via Italy.
- Meb is the third eldest son out of the ten children in his family and his father Rossom was a revolutionary in the freedom of Eritrea, due to which, he had to move to Adi Beyani to escape Ethiopian soldiers and their brutal massacres.
