Some Lesser Known Facts About Michelle Poonawalla
- Michelle’s grandfather Jehangir Vazifdar was a famous architect who built some of the iconic buildings of Mumbai. Apart from this, he was also an artist and has made many iconic paintings. Michelle got her inspiration for art from her grandfather, whom she used to watch sketch after returning from school.
- Michelle is famous for her work in the field of art and philanthropy. She is associated with a number of non-profit organisations (NGOs) in Mumbai.
- Michelle got the chance to showcase her artwork for the first time in 2016 at the Gateway School, Mumbai where she used to work with children with special needs.
- Before 2017, Michelle used to do painting as a hobby. After turning professional, one of her art projects, “Introspection” was also exhibited in London, Dubai and, Cochin.
- Michelle’s art projects Introspection and Circle of Life were exhibited at the Tao Art Gallery in Mumbai in 2021. Apart from this, her work has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London, as part of the START event in September 2019, Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, as part of the Dubai Art Week in March 2019, and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in India in 2018.
- In 2019, Michelle walked the ramp at a charity fundraiser event to raise awareness about child marriage. The event was organised by the NGO Breakthrough, which the Yohan Poonawalla Foundation and Michelle herself support.
