- Navneet grew up seeing her mother, Hira Devi Waiba (the first woman to record a Tamang Selo song) singing and being trained by her grandfather, Singh Man Singh Waiba in Nepali folk music.
- She comes from a family of musicians. Her ancestors passed on Nepali folk music to their generations. Following this custom, Navneet’s mother, Hira Devi Waiba, trained her in Nepali folk singing right from her childhood days.
