Some Lesser Known Facts About Nisarga Adhikary

• Nisarga Adhikary hails from Siliguri, West Bengal.

• At a very young age, he developed an interest in computers. When he was six years old, Nisarga started learning coding and began experimenting with software and technology on his own.

• When Adhikary was in class 6, he became interested in cybersecurity and started participating in Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, where he solved practical cybersecurity challenges.

• In 2021, he began working as a Volunteer Mapper, where he contributed to the open-source mapping projects by adding, checking and improving graphic information.

• In 2022, Nisarga Adhikary secured Global Rank 17 in the British Council International English Olympiad after scoring 57 out of 60 marks.

• In January 2023 he joined Hack Club, a community for young people interested in programming and technology.

• From June 2023 to August 2023, he worked as a Web Development Intern at New Delhi Space Society. During his internship, he worked on a website for the IIT Delhi ESYA compeition and turned designs into working web pages.

• In June 2023, Nisarga also received an EF SET C2 Proficient English score.

• During 2023 and 2024 he continued building software projects. His public projects included a CHIP-8 emulator written in C++, a minimal Hacker News client, A Rust-based Pastebin and tools for analysing WhatsApp chats and identifying website technologies.

• From September to December 2024, he worked as a Founding Engineer at Skann, an early-stage technology startup in Mumbai, where he worked on both frontend and backend development.

• In 2025, Nisarga worked with Cypherock, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency.

• In January 2026, Nisarga created Sightline, an Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) search engine that uses OpenStreetMap data to find and analyse real-works infrastructure and physical assets.

• In February 2026, he published security research paper related to FOSS United.

• In February 2026, he began investigating the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and said that the issues in CBSE security system included exposed credentials, weak access control and problem with the authentication process, which could potentially allow unauthorised access to parts of the system.

• On 25 February 2026 he reported his findings to CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team). However, he did not immediately make the finding public and waited for the response issues to be addressed.

• Nisarga waited about three months and published his detailed finding about CBSE OSM system on 22 May 2026. His CBSE research brought him national and international recognition.

• From March to May 2026, he worked as a Software Engineering intern at Wavelength, an Antler-funded startup. He worked there on backend development, security fixes and product features while also dealing with issues such as access control and authentication.

• In May 2026, Nisarga won a prize at Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) Hack 2026, organised by FOSS United.

• His CBSE OSM research brought him major professional opportunity in his career. IIT Kanpur appointed him as an Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Threat Intelligence Engineer at C3iHub, the cybersecurity technology innovation hub of IIT Kanpur.

• His appointment came after IIT Kanpur Director Professor Manindra Agrawal personally contacted Nisarga after his CBSE OSM research went public. He also described Adhikary as “talented young engineer with significant potential.”

• At C3iHub, Nisarga began working on areas, including red teaming, adversary simultation, AI security, threat intelligence and OSINT.

• In June 2026, he created Deanonymizer, a defensive OSINT project that studies how public online activity can potentially reveal someone’s identity. The project uses public Reddit, Hacker News, and other online data to study re-identification risks.

• In July 2026 at C3iHub, Nisarga created ProtestChat, a messaging project designed to work without the internet, mobile towers or a central server and allows phones to send messages through Bluetooth mesh networking.

• In July 2026, he joined Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over the NEET paper leak. At the protest he met CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and NCP (SP) spokesperson Anish Gawande. He also shared a photograph with them on his X handle.

• Between May and August 2026, Nisarga reported more than 250 security vulnerabilities to CERT-In. The issues were found across various government websites, startup platforms, and other online services.

• In September 2026, Nisarga came into news after reporting a security vulnerability in US Department of Justice System.

• On 22 September 2026, his name was included in US DOJ’s cybersecurity Hall of Fame for responsible vulnerability.
