Some Lesser Known Facts About Patricia Altschul

Patricia Altschul grew up in Richmond, Virginia. Later, she lived for a few years at Georgetown.

In 1981, she started working as a Technical and Aesthetic Consultant at Women Artisans Cooperative, Lama Kara, Togo, West Africa. She was also a Research- Assistant/Instructor for U.S.A.I.D. Togo Project, Togo, West Africa.

In 1987, she started working as a faculty member at Southside Arts Cente, Sacramento, CA. She worked there till 1990.

From 1989 to 2000, she joined American River College, Sacramento, CA as an instructor.

In 1991, she worked at STARTS Grant as an artist in the schools. A year later, she worked as the female Imagery and Aesthetics (lecturer) at the Women’s Seminar, U.C. Davis.

In the same year, she was appointed as an assistant at Joan Joanas Multi-Media performance of “Double Lunar Dogs,” R.L. Nelson Gallery, U.C. Davis.

She then started a private art dealership named Arcadia; and handled paintings of many renowned painters like Georgia O’Keeffe, Martin Johnson Heade, Frederic Edwin Church, and Winslow Homer.

She runs several non-profit organisations including the New York Historical Society and Historic Hudson Valley.

In 1997, Patricia, along with her husband Arthur, bought a 15-room Georgian-style home which she sold after her husband’s demise.

In 2008, she bought the famous Isaac Jenkins Mikell House in Charleston, South Carolina. She bought it for around $4.8 million and spent over $5 million on its renovation.

She has appeared in a few English TV shows such as Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston (2010), Watch What Crappens (2012), and The Mystery of the Pink Flamingo (2020).
