Some Lesser Known Facts About Rahul Kaswan
- His ancestors hailed from Matani village of Bhiwani district in Haryana. Later, they migrated to Kalri village of Churu district in Rajasthan.
- Rahul Kaswan was born into a family of politicians.
- Rahul’s grandfather, Deep Chand Kaswan, was a freedom fighter-turned-politician. He was a prominent leader of the BJP, who served as MP from Churu.
- Rahul’s father, Ram Singh Kaswan, is also a BJP leader. Ram Singh was elected as MP from Churu four times, in 1991, 1999, 2004 and 2009.
- Rahul Kaswan’s mother, Kamala Kaswan, was elected as MLA from Sadulpur on a ticket from the BJP in 2008.
- At 37, he became Rajasthan’s youngest MP when he won the 2014 general elections by defeating Bahujan Samaj Party’s Abhinesh Maharshi with a record margin of 2.94 lakh votes.
- In 2023, BJP veteran Rajendra Singh Rathore lost the Rajasthan assembly elections from the Taranagar seat in the Churu district. Rathore blamed Rahul Kaswan for his defeat.
