• Renee Kujur was born in a lower-middle-class family in Pirai village, Bagicha tehsil, Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh.

• Renee was inclined towards modelling from a very young age.

• At the age of 3, Renee participated in a fancy dress competition in her school. She dressed like a fairy. When Renee walked on the stage, someone shouted from behind “Dekho Dekho Kali Pari” (Look, a black fairy) and everybody around started laughing at her. Kujur was left in tears and went down the stage.

• Her parents could not support her education due to her father’s poor health. Her father suffered a heart attack and later, was diagnosed with cancer. However, she worked hard to complete her schooling.

• After completing her schooling, Renee started doing odd jobs to earn money so that she could make her portfolio.

• Despite facing criticism for her dusky complexion a number of times, Kujur determined to become a model.

• When Renee started circulating her portfolio, she initially faced a lot of rejection; as everyone said that they only need fair models.

• Renee shared during an interview that being a tribal girl, she was expected to opt for a government job and nothing more.

• Renee started her modelling career when she was 28 years old.

• Not just looks, Renee even shares a similar Instagram handle to Rihanna. Renee’s Instagram handle is “badgirlrene,” which is a take on Rihanna’s “badgirlriri.”

• Renee is greatly influenced by Rihanna and says that her journey will complete once she meets Rihanna in person.

• During an interview, Renee shared that earlier she had to deal with the photographers who asked the makeup artists to make her look “3-4 tones lighter.” They even photoshopped her pictures heavily to make her look fairer.
