- In 2007, Rilee made his first-class debut for Free State against the Eastern cricket team; he scored 83 runs in the innings while batting at number three.
- In December 2007, Rilee made his International debut for South Africa under-19s in the second test match against Bangladesh.
- Rilee likes to consume alcohol occasionally.
- In 2008, Rilee scored his maiden first-class century against the Multiply Titans cricket team; he made 106 runs which included 20 boundaries.
- Besides cricket, Rilee likes to play golf, he learnt golf from his father.
- In the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Rilee played all six matches and helped his team to reach the finals; he scored 136 runs in the tournament at a batting average of 34.00.

- Rilee had a brilliant first-class season in 2009-10 as he scored 1,261 runs at a batting average of 57.61. He also scored a triple century in that season against The Titans cricket team.
