• In April 2016, she started working as a Field Organiser for the U.S. Presidential Campaign. She worked in the position till June 2016.

• Rini Sampath served as Communications and Programs Fellow at the National Campus Leadership Council from February 2016 to June 2016.

• She was appointed as a Policy Director at the National Campus Leadership Council in June 2016. She worked there till July 2017.

• From January 2017 to December 2021, she served as a Board Member at IGNITE National, a movement of young women who want to pursue their careers as political leaders.

• From July 2017 to January 2019, Rini Sampath served as Senior Consultant for Digital Strategy and Change Management at Booz Allen Hamilton.

• In February 2026, Rini Sampath made headlines when she announced her candidacy in the Democratic primary for Washington, DC’s mayor.

• In one of her campaign’s videos, she criticised the city’s leaders and focused on infrastructure and basic services. In one of her campaigns, she said,
  

  As Mayor, my priority will be to make sure our city lives up to its basic commitments to our residents: Fill the potholes. Stop the catastrophic wastewater spill in the Potomac. Lower prices. Improve 911 wait times.”
