Controversy | In September 2022, a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint against Lamichhane at Gaushala Metropolitan Police Circle. According to police, the crime was committed on 21 August 2022. According to the girl, she was a fan of the cricketer, and they would often interact with each other via WhatsApp and Snapchat. [1]The Free Press Journal Later, in the same month, Nepal police issued a diffusion notice through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) against Sandeep Lamichhane, and his name was added to the police fugitive list of Interpol member states following which Lamichhane reiterated through a Facebook post that he was innocent. He said, “All the allegations against me have affected me mentally. I am in mental stress and ill health, and have kept myself in isolation. I have been following the doctor's advice,” Lamichhane said. “I will come back to Nepal as soon as possible.” [2]The Kathmandu Post Sandeep was taken into custody in October 2022, but he was later released on a bail, posting a bond of Rs. 2 million with certain conditions.
