Some Lesser Known Facts About Saurav Das

During his college days, when Saurav Das was 17 years old, he decided to pursue a career in investigative journalism.

When he was 18 years old, he came into the limelight for using the Right to Information (RTI) Act to disclose important stories in India.

In December 2018, Saurav Das started working as an Intern in News Desk NDTV, New Delhi, India. He served in the position till January 2019.

He regularly contributes to various noted media outlets, including Al Jazeera, The Hindu, Article 14, New Lines Magazine, The Quint, BoomLive, Firstpost, The Wire, and LiveLaw.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Saurav approached a state High Court and appealed the Central Information Commission to speed up appeals related to urgent requests on COVID-19 information.

This appeal helped in addressing the concerns about the increasing control of central government in the sharing of important information.

Saurav Das often goes to the courts to demand accountability from authorities. He had filed public interest litigations on larger issues related to accountability that affect society.

Many of his research works received attention all over India. They were featured on television news channels and in noted publications.

In October 2021, Saurav Das began working as a Video Post-Producer at Monks, a digital marketing, technology services, and consulting company in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He served in the position till April 2022.

In May 2022, he served as a Content Associate at GLG in Gurugram, Haryana. He served in the position till March 2023.

During this period, Saurav Das researched on American companies on the basis of their credit profile within investment grade. He created the ideas through financial research, interviewing experts, conducting the events, and preparing questionnaires.

Apart from being a journalist, he also works as a transparency activist. He regularly delivers speeches at both public and private universities.

Saurav Das has published the book, ‘Complicit Silence: The Court’s Role in India’s Quiet Suffering.’ The book tells the contribution of Indian judiciary to the electoral autocracy of India.

In the book, he described the stories of victims who were not granted any justice from the court of law. He also talked about the less advanced and a judicial system, which is governed by the religious leaders of India.

In November 2025, he participated in the anti-pollution protests, which were organised at India Gate in New Delhi.

That same year, Saurav Das participated in the World Expression Forum in Norway.

In June 2026, he made headlines when he was appointed as the Chief Spokesperson of Cockroach Janta Party.

Saurav Das made the announcement on X. He wrote,

I am thrilled to join the Cockroach Janta Party as its Chief Spokesperson. There comes a moment when the young of a nation realise they are angry because they were promised a future, and then mocked, moralised, and treated as disposables for asking where that future went. That moment has arrived. And it is time we change that.”

He joined two other spokespersons for the party, named Vijeta Dahiya, a filmmaker, Ashutosh Ranka, former management consultant.

The group was earlier a social media platform. It then became a more organized campaign.

After his appointment, under his leadership, the party started demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over issues such as the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.

After that, many media reports highlighted some online discussions where many social media users questioned the past connections and actions of Saurav.

Saurav Das once criticised Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma in a high-profile legal case against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

When asked about his past connections and statements in a media conference, his partner spokesperson claimed that the mission of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was above an individual and their personal thoughts. He said,

Our past affiliations are not important. This fight is bigger than that. CJP is bigger than an individual or any organisation.”

On social media, Saurav Das was then criticised for his past professional and public relations with Umar Khalid.
