She joined a local theatre named ‘Sarjana,’ during her school days.
In 1990, she moved to Delhi and started her theatre journey with N.K. Sharma’s theatre group.
She has also worked with Habib Tanvir’s Naya theatre and Barry John’s theatre. While working with them, she was involved in many village development programmes.
Some of her notable plays were Mahesh Dattani’s “Tara” on the girl child, G.P. Deshpande’s “Antim Divas” on Naxalism and Arvind Gaur’s “Final Solutions” on communalism.
Her debut film “Peepli Live” (2010), helped her gain a tremendous public and critics’ appreciation. This film established her as an actress in the film industry.
She has also featured in films like “Shahid” (2012), “Gurgaon” (2017), etc.
