- Shena Gamat actively participated in theatre in childhood.
- Her first major amateur role was as Anne Frank, at the age of 13 years, in a stage show in Bangalore.
- She and her ex-husband, Amit Saigal, co-founded the music magazine Rock Street Journal (RSJ) in 1993.
- She continued with RSJ until 2004 and organized events such as The Great Indian Rock (a platform for original rock music).
- She co-founded a theatre company named Barefoot Theatre in 2007.
- Some of her theatre productions were, ‘The Pink Balloon’ (2007) and ‘Snakes’ (2018).
- She played the role of a hotel owner in the film Dev.D (2009) and a businessperson named Chanda Narang in Band Baaja Baaraat (2010).
- She was the Program Director of the Society for Labour and Development from 2009 to 2012 during which she was in charge of Tarang, a youth and cultural programme for migrant workers.
