• Shiva Narwal’s family is originally from the Kathura village in Sonepat, Haryana.

• At a younger age, Shiva Narwal liked to play Kabaddi and played in state-level competitions. He did not pursue it further when his attention shifted to air pistol shooting, his elder brother’s chosen sport.

• He started training in air pistol shooting at a training centre in Rohtak at age 11 in 2017.

• His elder brother, Manish Narwal, who has won the nation’s top two sporting Awards (Major Dyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award), is his inspiration.

• He won 10 medals at the 64th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) in 2021.

• It was a challenging time in Shiva Narwal’s personal life when he lost his eldest brother, Manjeet Narwal, in a road accident on 1 November 2022. His father mentioned that the loss affected Shiva’s performance in sports.

• In 2022, he and Palak Gulia won a bronze medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol category at the world championships in Changwon, China, against a team from Kazakhstan.
